I want to start gardening but it's too early! I have houseplants but they don't count. If I start the tomatoes, peppers, etc indoors now it would likely be okay BUT then I have extra time where I have to keep the cats from messing with them. I have SO. MANY. IDEAS. for what I want to do outside and I know from past experience that I'll run out of energy or money before I can do all of it, but I wanna plant stuff! I may recently have put some carrot tops in water to make the green part grow just because.

The seed catalogs started showing up a few weeks ago in our mail. My health does not let me participate in the gardening, but I sure can't wait for spring!

It's February, the ground is solid d, although the snow did all melt. Still I won't fool myself, we'll have snow in March and April. The garden will eventually go in and the grass will eventually turn green again.

You're all wishing for Spring, and I'm hanging for March 1st, the start of Autumn down here, and then June 1st is WINTER!!! Yayyy! Though we don't get snow etc., so I guess our winters aren't nearly as bad, unless you're up on our one or two mountains lol

My hyacinths and daylilies are trying to grow. I explained the concept of sneaky Indiana winter and spring seasons to them but I really don't think they were paying attention.
I have started some tomato (Sunset's Red Horizon) and pepper (Poblano) seeds in pots in a sunny window. I'm sure more potential plants will join them soon.

I thought my crocus was trying to pop through the ground, but was just the tips of the tulips. We need to have a salsa garden this year. We do that about every other year and can enough to last the interim. The last round, I messed up and bought some hatch chile peppers to round it out. I didn't pay attention and got MILD. Ruined the salsa for us. We like spicy, not so much that you can't enjoy the flavors, but the really good aftertaste.

Today, we are having weather in the 70s. Even though it may rain a little, I am planting my tomato and pepper plants. The old woman who lives a few miles from me always lets me know that I am planting way too early and if there is a surprise freeze, I'll lose everything. Last year I told her I watch the weather and I have plastic that I keep rolled up just for the purpose of covering plants if the temperature is going to do a surprise drop. She has this thing that you don't plant anything until after a certain day. My daughter plant by the moon. I plant whenever the hell I feel like it and last year, we had a very productive garden. Spring has sprung here and I am just hoping since it came in like a lamb it won't go out like a lion...or do I have that backwards?

Central Indiana weather in March is like a honey badger. It don't give a fuck. The past 2 days highs were in the 50s and today it looks like aequa's picture up there. Snow all over the place.

Even though the weather seems to be behaving itself now I'm sort of afraid to trust it. No fair.

I know. My baby tomatoes aren't ready yet, and I'm actually sort of glad because I don't have to gamble.

Today I didn't do a damn thing outside but I know I have to get to it ASAP because I saw a neighbor starting to get her garden ready to plant! We're friends but there's still a rivalry. As long as she doesn't put in her garden on the same day another neighbor mows his perfect lawn I may survive the week.

I just realized that I have 52 tomato plants.
Fifty Two tomato plants.
Twelve pepper plants.
Nevermind I had planned to direct seed some other things.
I am only one person. This season should be interesting.
