I’m trying to imagine what my grandsons would be like had they been born to Nicole and Joe.
Just the thought nearly brings me to tears.
I can imagine how the Naugler children would have faired in my family and I feel sadness.
My grandsons as little ones, remind me of the little Nauglers.
My grandsons have, however, received regular schooling, involvement in sports and many other family activities outside of their immediate home.
The oldest, still in high school, who could have been a Quinten, is now an Eagle Scout, a very caring young man, who has his own guns ( in a large safe with the family guns) has a nice ( pretty) Jeep that he helped his dad rebuild, and a Black Belt.
When little he had a temper, and and a stubbornness that my son and Daughter in-law handled as learning experiences for him.
He was five and absolutely determined that he should go swimming in his uncle’s swimming pool.
Being the wintertime didn’t mean anything to him at all.
So, his parents told him that the water was very cold and that if he went in he had to swim across the pool.
He swam across the pool, got out, and never said another word.
Of course, mama was waiting with a warm towel and silence.😄
He has also been on swimming teams ever since, because he loves swimming.
My Grandson will graduate with top grades and already has solid plans for his future.
Would he defend his family with a gun, if it were appropriate? I have no doubt.
But he has had the experience of living in a real world, with travel and being exposed to all kinds of people.
My grandson could also be an “enforcer”. However, he has learned discretion, and the ability to hold his temper when angered.
So my heart breaks for Quinten. He could have been my grandson.
